SWEDEN
TRIP TO

Hi, my name is Viktorie, but everyone calls me Viki. And I am saying hi from Copenhagen, where I've been living past 6 years.
I fell in love with exploring Denmark and Sweden and mostly and mainly, I love to capture it. So this is basically my travel diary, which I currated myself.
I am working in marketing, content creation and photography, currently looking for my next big thing.
How about you?

LIGHTHOUSE
STF SMYGEHUK FYR HOSTEL

One and only chance not just to see a lighthouse, but to actually climb up and explore the inside. I’ve never been in one before, so it was an easy yes on the plan. The best part? The lighthouse is completely open to the public and free of charge. And those little houses next to it? They’re not just for show, you can actually book a night there, since they serve as a cozy hostel.
TIP: WALK TO THE HARBOUR NEXT DOOR
SMYGE HAMN
From the lighthouse, you can follow the seaside path and end up in a cozy little fishing harbour nearby. Grab an ice cream and just sit by the shore, watching the waves crash against the coast; it’s the perfect way to slow down.

GET AN ICE-CREAM
& SIT IN THE HARBOUR
KOPMANSMAGASINET
If you feel like shopping, just continue along the water to the little stores nearby. And if you’re lucky (like we were), you might stumble upon a local flea market set up in the parking lot.
BONGSAHUSET
LOCAL CAFE and BAKERY and HOTEL
I’ve visited Bongsahuset twice now, once for an overnight in autumn and again at the end of summer for Mika. I can highly recommend their hotel rooms, mainly because the breakfast is honestly the best I’ve ever had. But even if you’re just passing by, it’s worth stopping for a cozy fika. And don’t leave without taking a loaf of their fresh bread home.

TROPICAL
SCANDINAVIA
When you pass through the little town of Hammenhög, make sure to stop at the Tropical Scandinavia store. You might even meet one of the creators behind their amazing, colorful and funky designs: carpets, posters, T-shirts and more. Definitely a 10/10 stop.
DAHLIA
FARMEN
If you’re into flowers, glass, ceramics, or books, make a stop at Dahlia Farmen. Plan enough time to enjoy a delicious meal or a cozy fika outdoors, surrounded by gardens bursting with around 500 different kinds of dahlias.
KARLSKRONA

MUSEUM MUSEUM MUSEUM
The Naval Museum in Karlskrona is amazing. And there’s even a café inside. We didn’t have time to see the full exhibition, but it came highly recommended.
The Blekinge Museum was free to visit, and we explored both the main building and the garden and yard. It’s set close to the water, from where we started another little trip.

karlskrona
archipelago
OK. I REALLY LOVED THIS !!!

If you love boats and boat rides as much as I do, hop on the local ‘water bus’ for a round trip around the archipelag, it’s such a calming experience. You can choose between a 1.5-hour or 3-hour tour, and the departure spot is easy to find by clicking the button below.

ÖLAND
One of the convenient things s about this island is that you don’t need to take a ferry, there’s a bridge directly from the city called Kalmar, and it’s free to cross. We visited Öland at the end of August, just after the holiday season. It was calm and peaceful, though the downside of traveling off-season was that some places were already closed.

LET'S SEE SOME ART

VIDA MUSEUM
"The VIDA Museum, located in Halltorp, showcases contemporary Scandinavian art and design, including glass art, paintings, and sculptures. The building itself is stunning, modern, full of light, and designed with many beautiful nooks to explore. One of the highlights is the spacious sculpture garden and the terrace, which you can access directly through the café.

THE BEST CINNAMON ROLL !!!
I’ve been living in Denmark (partly Sweden) a for over six years, and trust me, I’ve tried a lot of cinnamon buns, twists, and rolls. Even some of the most famous ones in Copenhagen. But nothing even comes close to how good these were. We ended up going twice, and both times not only enjoyed them on the spot but also brought some home. I even did the slightly embarrassing thing of asking for the recipe, that’s how good they were.

MORMOS CAFÉ
TIP: DO a post-coffee walk to the harbour or take a swim

Capellagården
Capellagården is a renowned craft and design school on the island of Öland, founded in 1960 by Swedish designer Carl Malmsten. It’s a peaceful, creative campus where students study furniture making, textiles, ceramics, organic gardening and design in a very hands-on, traditional-meets-modern way. The whole place feels like a quiet artistic village surrounded by nature, where craftsmanship, slow living and Scandinavian aesthetics blend together beautifully.
WORLD OF ASTRID lindgrEN

Astrid Lindgren was born in the little town of Vimmerby, surrounded by forests, fields and that soft Swedish countryside that later shaped all her stories. When I walk through Sweden, I often think about her, how she took the simplest moments of childhood and turned them into worlds full of courage, freedom and mischief. She spent most of her life in Stockholm, writing, editing and speaking up for children, animals and anyone who needed a voice. To me, she’s not just an author; she’s a reminder of the magic that comes from living close to nature, staying curious and holding onto that spark of playfulness no matter how old we get.

VILLA VIMMERBY
There aren’t many places that stay in my mind, but I still get little flashbacks of this one, Villa Vimmerby. I love when a place offers an experience, not just room keys, and this one, owned by a former Stockholm family has a hidden garden where kids can play with rabbits and the whole atmosphere feels a bit like a fairytale. And in the morning, you get a breakfast basket delivered right to your door, filled with local, freshly made produce. Love.

BULLERBYN
Sevedstorp is a small rural settlement in Sweden (in the municipality of Vimmerby, Småland) that served as the real-world inspiration for the fictional village of Bullerbyn in Astrid Lindgren’s “The Six Bullerby Children” books. It’s also the location where the films based on those books (for example The Children of Noisy Village) were partly shot. The three iconic red houses that appear in the stories are still standing in Sevedstorp, they’re privately owned and used as homes.
